The Florida Museum of Natural History

Located on the University of Florida's campus in Gainesville, the Florida Museum of Natural History is the state's official natural history museum and is the largest of it's kind in the Southeast. Of particular interest to convention attendees is the amazing cave exhibit modeled after Marianna Caverns State Park. While exploring the cave, you learn about minerals, hydrology, cave life and the fossils found in Florida caves. Another point of interest is the Butterfly Rainforest which is a screened vivarium housing subtropical and tropical plants and trees which support hundreds of free-flying butterflies. Some insider knowledge: the landscaping in this vivarium was designed by one of our local Florida cavers! Check out the museum website for more information on exhibits and hours of operation.
