Health & Safety Information
Health Care Facilities in Lake City, Florida The first aid station located at the fairgrounds will be staffed from 8:00 am through 8:00 pm on the days of August 11 through August 15. This facility is for minor medical issues that can be handled by a nurse or emergency medical tech. Transportation from the first aid station to or from local emergency departments must be made by the NSS member. Emergency transport by ambulance is available using the 911 system. Fortunately, Columbia County EMS station is located adjacent to the fairgrounds. There are two hospitals in Lake City. Lake City Medical Center, a private non-profit hospital, is a very new facility located about ¾ of a mile from the fairgrounds, just off I-75 and US-90 exit. The second hospital that is closer to Lake City Community College is located in downtown Lake City. Shand’s Lakeshore Hospital is a community based hospital slightly larger than LCMC and also has a 24 hour emergency department. It is about 2 miles from the fairgrounds. The list below is only a small listing of facilities, but these are within walking distance of the fairgrounds. The emergency departments have “fast track” sub-departments that usually operate from 11a-11p. Wait times will vary depending on the current patient load and priority of illness and injury. If medication refills are needed, I would advise using nationally brand pharmacies that can refill using their database. Emergency departments do not refill routine medicines without being seen as a patient and full ER billing. Come prepared. As with all newer facilities, they must comply with the Americans with disability act for access.
